Friday, February 18 was declared Barbs 4 Sam night at the DeKalb High School Boys Basketball game. Coach Chuck Schramm wanted to do something special to recognize Sam whom he calls "an inspiration".

Sam was given a plaque and an autographed basketball from the coaches and team. Special shirts which said "Barbs 4 Sam" were even made up for each player and Sam.

He was also asked to sit on the bench for the evening to help coach. It paid off as the Barbs won the game! The story was featured in the Daily Chronicle.

Thanks coaches, players, and everyone else for making this a special night for Sam. And a special thanks to Lori and Zach Phelps for all they did and for making our family feel welcome. You are all such great role models for all of us!
