A Charity Event to benefit Brain Tumor Research at Chicago Children’s Memorial Hospital

The Race for the Future: With the support of the DeKalb Park District, Children’s Memorial Hospital and countless area supporters, Sam and his family are organizing the second annual community race event to raise awareness and funding for brain tumor research. Last year more than 700 walkers, runners, volunteers, and spectators enjoyed the day.

Hopkins Park is conveniently located on the west side of Sycamore Road (IL Rt 23), just south of the town of Sycamore, between Hillcrest Drive to the south and Barber Greene Road to the north.

Parking: Ample parking is available in several lots located at the park.

The Course: Timed runners and walkers will explore a trail that winds through beautiful Hopkins Park and the surrounding neighborhood. Family walkers will follow the park trail. Courses are safe, with sure footing and gentle, rolling terrain on mostly asphalt paths.

Course Records: The course record, established in 2007, is held by Oswego, IL resident, Raymond Heriaud who finished the 5K course in 17:20.7 minutes.

Entry Fee:
5K Run or Walk
- $20.00 pre-registration; $25.00 day of race
Family Walk - $15.00 – individual; $35.00 – family of 3 or more.
Ask about group rates and custom shirts.

Registration: Individual registration includes one tee shirt; family entries include three shirts; additional shirts can be ordered at a cost of $8.00 each. Limited sizes available for registrations received after April 15.

No refunds will be given in the event of inclement weather.

Participants: Everyone is encouraged to run, trot, walk, skip, stroll, or be strolled along this scenic course.

Awards: Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners in each timed division. Trophies will be given to the male and female overall winners.

6-8; 9-11; 12-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80 +
